I have a tendency to not listen to people who give advice about things they’ve never done. It helps filter out unnecessary opinions and in keeping my ears open to advice I’d take seriously. We hear a lot of stories about people deciding to dedicate their lives early on to purpose-driven careers, like Delfin Villafuerte of Teach for the Philippines. But we don’t hear as many stories of people who left the Philippines, and then came back home to dedicate themselves to a purpose-driven career here.
